Get Lost!

I would like everyone associated with Get Up! to define, exactly, what their position on democracy is and how they intend to support free speech, clear and transparent communication and reporting, and freedom from harm.

Without these values, our society slips closer to being a paranoid cult based on either religion or ideology, neither of which are capable of creating the society we have taken for granted in this country for the past 50 years.

With the best of intentions, Get Up! is placing itself in the position of being a detriment to democracy, the opposite position it took to the Howard government taking a majority in the 2000s. How sad that those ideals have devolved into pathetic pranks and misinformation.

The environmental and humanitarian values of Get Up! are on display, but, disturbingly, their machinations reveal a driven desire to destroy diversity and safety. Who deserves protection: an aged Australian woman or a religious male immigrant?

That was a trick question, by the way.

I simply wanted to highlight the complexity in determining ‘rights’ as opposed to protecting the mechanisms we have in this country to ensure everyone lives free from harm.

Get Up!’s stunt at the Press Club was disgusting and weakens our secular values, values which are inclusive. Get Up! is now a threat to Australian society.

Everyone who takes secular society for granted is directly involved with the recent attempts of Get Up! to interfere with freedom of speech and impartiality of the press.
