The City and the Water

I leave broken-hearted

This city

I fell in love with it.

So little natural

Life clinging to its insides

Desperately.

No cars:

I love cars!

But the blasting ferry horns remind me…

No cars

So peaceful

Walking by and by.

The water

Under the ferries

Lapping at the buildings,

Lapping

Clean

The waters of the lagoon.

Perched over the waters

Marble and stone and brick

Centuries of history ambling.

Leaving this city and its waters

I hope we meet again

Leaving broken-hearted.
