My family started in 1066, and were placed next to the Welsh boarder. My ancestors spent most generations able to speak Celtic Welsh and the family was established by the Normans who spoke French.
The accents of English I speak arose in London in the late 1800s and one evolved through the 1900s in Brisbane. For most the history of my family, the way I speak was a foreign language or didn’t even exist.
Yet, in Australia, there are white people who believe that this is their country.
One great way to stop people being cunts is to know our histories, national and personal.
