Sane?

In Astrology we have the masculine and the feminine which are essentially those energies which are expressed in the outer world and those which are expressed in the inner world: extrovert and introvert. English is a bit clumsy when describing these things, so stick with me.

An example of this dichotomy is how the majority of men respond to grief, which is to focus on actions to resolve and repair what has been lost, and how the majority of women respond by seeking resolution and acknowledging in their daily lives that which has been lost.

The biological indicators underlying these behaviours are obvious but are by no means exclusive and certainly do not dictate behaviour of the sexes.

Then in Astrology we have three modes of expression: cardinal, fixed, and mutable. Each reflects a different way in which energies are manifested by people: the first way is leaping in, trying and exploring; the second is isolating, collecting and solidifying; the third is comparing and contrasting.

Where the far left is focussed on obliterating biological sex in favour of how gender is expressed, and the far right is focussed on obliterating gender in favour of a reductionist expression of sex. Humanity is devolving.

The ongoing spiteful arguments about sex and gender are not focussed on identifying the truth as they are merely debates, not discussions.

To further elucidate how Astrology can bring some sanity to this debate, we also have four elements. This is where people usually miss the point of Astrology, which is a philosophy of living much like Buddhism, and is not a religion requiring belief, and it is not a science, although it does require observation and testing.

The elements reflect the nature of how the two fundamentals and three modes manifest. These combinations give us the 12 signs which are merely mnemonic short hand.

For example, let’s consider the fire signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. Whether someone is male or female, or trans or asexual or hermaphrodite or etc, in biological sex, in psychological gender they will naturally express themselves directly and openly unless they have strong values which prohibit self expression. Even then, they will be direct and vital in maintaining those values.

Most of Astrology is a structure of how our identities function in different ways and in different contexts, that is, how someone’s gender can manifest. But however our psychology manifests, it is based upon our biology, which Astrology incorporates into its philosophy.

For example, compare how a Libran man functions differently to a Libran woman. Both are motivated to balance with others and harmonise in some way, but with the male version, he is like the fulcrum of the scales whereas the female version is like the arms of the scales. Another example is the Aquarian man who is often volatile and unpredictable and the Aquarian woman who usually has a deadly accurate intuition.

The ludicrous far left and far right nastiness and closed mindedness is like watching children fighting over a small toy: frustrating and terribly unenlightening.

Using sex and gender as a whipping boy to gain political power is insane.
